Three-Step Smile Reclamation

Step 1: Consultation and Examination

If you’re wondering if dental implants are right for you, come discover that in our office during your free, personalized consultation. We’ll get to know your smile goals, do a thorough dental exam, and capture 3D images of the affected area using our low-radiation cone beam CT (CBCT) scanning equipment. With all that information, we can establish if you’re already a candidate for implants or may require some additional treatments to become eligible. If your jawbone has receded, we’ll perform bone grafting, possibly including a sinus lift or ridge augmentation, to make your jaw strong and dense enough to support implants.

During the bone grafting procedure, we might be able to utilize a surgical stent to measure the width and height of your jawbone. Manufactured by Anatomage, this versatile, powerful tool can also be adapted for use as a surgical guide, ensuring accuracy and precision during surgery. Apart from bone grafting, we also offer tooth extractions to clear space for your replacement teeth. Once we determine all these aspects of your treatment, we can schedule your implant placement for the following visit.

Step 2: Ultra-Precise Placement and Immediate Restoration

Before we start the placement procedure, our first priority is to relax you with one or several sedation options. With capabilities including IV sedation, oral sedation, nitrous oxide (also known as laughing gas), and local anesthesia, we’re equipped to keep you comfortable and relaxed for the duration of your procedure. After you’re comfortably sedated, we can complete additional related treatments, if any. We’ll then continue on with the implant placement itself.

We begin the process by securing your customized surgical guide or guides over the treatment areas. The guides have holes arranged at the precise positions where we’ll place the implants. We insert your durable, screw-like implants into your jawbone through the guide’s holes. The guide empowers us to place your implants efficiently and at just the correct depth and angle for a lasting, natural fit. We insist on using implants of the finest quality from leading manufacturers like Straumann. Lastly, we’ll top your implants with temporary crowns or, for multiple adjacent teeth, bridges so you can begin to enjoy a fully restored after just one day!

Step 3: Treatment Ends, a New Life Begins

After implant placement, your gums and jawbone usually take at least four months to fully heal. But don’t worry—you’ll be able to eat and do everything you need to do with your temporary restorations. Your implants will actually fuse permanently with your jawbone during the healing process. When it’s complete, you’ll come back to us to receive your final restorations. Those crowns or bridges will be customized to fit you securely and match the color of the surrounding teeth for a seamless, natural-looking smile. From final placement on, you’ll enjoy conversations, your favorite foods, and the feeling of self-confidence again—possibly for the rest of your life!
